Introducing our Penultimate Sale of 2020

Welcome to this two day auction held on 10th and 11th November, our penultimate sale of 2020.  The year has been extraordinary in so many ways and has seen a radical change for the auction industry.

I was reminded that five years ago I wrote an article published in the Estates Gazette that talked about the shift from venue auctions to online sales.  In this article I suggested that whilst online sales had a place in the market, at the time I did not foresee they would replace the cut and thrust of a venue sale where bidders can see the competition and we as auctioneers can see our customers.

One could not have forecast the current situation where the entire industry has shifted for the moment to online sales and it is interesting that many who were the first in the market to do online sales over five years ago are now left behind even though they were the pioneers of online auctions.  For us, we have brought our group together offering one major two day sale over the last few months.  We don’t of course know when it will be safe to hold venue sales but we shall do so when the time is right, however these sales will inevitably be a hybrid offering people the opportunity to bid in person, bid on line, bid on the phone or bid by proxy.

I would however remind bidders that no matter how you bid, you are bidding to buy.  Every single bid is tracked and once the hammer falls on your bid, you have entered a binding contract – it is exactly the same as if you were in the auction room itself!

Turning to this catalogue, you will see it comprises an exciting array of stock throughout the country.  We put this catalogue together in less than 7 days following our October auction and if you are thinking of selling, there is still time to discuss the suitability of your lot to be entered in our final sale of the year to be held on 15th and 16th December.

We have increased the number of virtual tours so you can view these properties with tours from the safety and comfort of your home.  Please visit the properties on our web site where you will be able to link directly to these tours.  We are also holding COVID secure viewings.  If attending please book your slot, turn up with your own PPE and, if anyone in your household is suffering from COVID symptoms please do the right thing and don’t come to a viewing.

As always, we are here to assist with your enquiries and now have more staff available on the phones so please give us a call.  Legal packs are available to download via this web site and please make sure you are a prudent buyer by doing all your due diligence before you bid.  Don’t forget, you are bidding to buy and will have entered the contract if the gavel (an electronic one in this case) falls on your bid.  Our advice remains, do your due diligence, ask questions and if after all of this you remain unsure – do not bid.

The buyer’s guide is available on this site and if you follow this I am sure your auction experience will be a great one and you may well end up grabbing a bargain – there are after all, some lots offered in this auction with no reserve – i.e. they will be sold to the best bid on the day!

We wish you the very best of luck with your bidding and don’t forget , make sure you register to bid well in advance of the deadline
