Introducing our February 2020 Auction Sale

Despite the cold weather and rain outside, I’d like to wish all our clients and customers old and new, a very warm welcome to this, our first auction catalogue for 2020.

With so much of the uncertainty in the political world, well certainly in the UK, now behind us, I truly believe we can look forward with optimism for a year that will see the re-balance and restoration of confidence in the UK property market and wider economy.

I am however, proud that Barnard Marcus Auctions rose to all the challenges and found innovative solutions and a positive attitude that assisted our clients and maintained sales throughout the year. In fact, our business grew. Whilst many other auctioneers saw their instruction levels fall and became too selective as to what they would dare to offer in their catalogues , our volumes grew, as did the capital value of our sales that now stands at some £230 Million in 2019 and our market share of lots offered . In fact, for yet another successive year our market share of residential lots offered by a single London based National Auctioneer increased and now stands at almost 30%. I believe this is a real testament to the hard work and diligence of my team with many new sellers turning to Barnard Marcus for their property auction service.

All of this means of course that we can offer a greater spread of lots to our buyers offering choice regardless of your purpose for buying. Information about our 2019 results together with real and factual market commentary can be read in our 2019 Review that you can read both on line and hard
copy print.

With this all in mind, I am delighted to bring to you this catalogue for our sale on 3rd
February and, carrying on the theme of 2019, this sale contains some 25% more lots than our February 2019 auction catalogue. I am sure you will find lots of lots of interest but before you come to the auction it is essential you carry out all your due diligence as detailed in our on line and printed guide lines, at the auction you are bidding to buy so, make sure you are ready.

Anti-money laundering regulations are getting tighter and more detailed and we are required by law to adhere to these regulations. We have invested in new technology to help smooth the process but please make sure that when you come to the auction, you bring with you the required documents, again detailed in this catalogue and our online guidelines.

Apart from a busy year holding 10 auction sales offering some 2000 properties, other members of my team and the wider services within our group were busy finishing the design and functionality of our new web site that we launched in the summer last year. Work on this site continues in the background and we shall be letting you know about new features and functionality as we release them, all of which will help and smooth the path for both our buyers and sellers.

It does look like 2020 is to be the year of the much heralded “Boris Bounce” and with this in mind, I am sure you will find some great opportunities in this catalogue. We are here to assist with all your enquiries in the lead up to the auction so please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send an e mail.

On behalf of my team here at Barnard Marcus Auctions, we look forward to welcoming you to the Grand Connaught Rooms on Monday 3rd February and wish you the very best of luck with your bidding.
