Welcome to Our Early Spring Auction Sale
As usual this will be a live venue based sale with the auction held at The Grand Connaught Rooms, Great Queen Street which is a few minutes’ walk of Covent Garden and theatre land. If this alone was not enough to encourage you to come to the auction rather than bid remotely, consider some of the potential issues faced by a buyer not attending the sale.
Whilst we offer buyers who can’t attend the sale the facility to bid via the internet, telephone or proxy bid, there are some things that you should consider. Is your internet connection reliable and fast? Imagine the scenario – you are set at your PC ready to bid and at the critical moment, your internet connection drops out and you can’t bid, the gavel could well fall on someone else’s bid and you have lost the chance to buy, this cannot happen if you are at the venue sat in front of the auctioneer with your bidders paddle!
Similarly we call you on your mobile phone (we use reliable land lines to call you) and again, at that critical moment your signal drops out and again, the chance to buy has gone, this cannot happen if you are at the venue sat in front of the auctioneer with your bidders paddle!
So, now the evenings are lighter, the train strikes over and London is really at its very best as the hoards of tourists have not yet descended, what better reason could you have to take the opportunity to come into town, bid for your ideal lot and take in a the sights of London at the same time.
In fact amongst the very many bidders who attended our sale in March, was a buyer who had come all the way in from Swansea for the last lot of the day. Not only did they outbid another bidder in the room but also saw off a number of internet bids and went home very happy with the contract tucked safely in their bag.
Apart from all of this, bidders who come to the auction venue properly experience the buzz and excitement of the auction, you simply cannot replicate this with ebay style bidding, live stream auctions or dare I say, an auction effectively conducted by a computer algorithm. I will leave it to you to decide how you engage with bidding but a property is likely to be one of your most expensive single purchases, why leave it to chance!
One thing you must not leave to chance is your preparation before the sale. It is essential you carry out all your due diligence before you bid, remember, when the gavel falls on your bid you have exchanged a legally binding contract, you can’t change your mind after the event or simply say “I don’t want to buy because I didn’t realise”.
We are here to help and advise you on any of the lots in the auction, legal packs are available to download from this website free of charge and you must take legal advice on the pack and any other professional advice in respect to financing and matters generally about the property you are bidding for – it is your responsibility.
So, in the lead up to the sale we’re here to help, and you can call or email my teams located throughout the country and make your arrangements to come to the sale.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Grand Connaught Rooms for an early start to the sale on Tuesday 18th April and wish you the very best of luck with your bidding!
