Welcome to our 8th Major National Auction
As usual, this sale is a proper auction at a venue with experienced auctioneers and our team on hand at the venue to help you with your bidding, and still the only National auction that you can attend and bid in person.
Yes, you can bid online provided you pre-register but why would you. Bidding online is sterile, you have no real interaction with the auctioneer and most importantly, we can’t see you and in doing so, see you are having that last minute chat and give you that extra space to decide whether to make that all important last minute, and winning bid. If you click your mouse to bid and our gavel has already come down, someone else has bought the property and for that few extra pounds, you have missed out. That can’t happen if you are at the auction and even if you can’t attend the sale, that can’t happen if you have booked a telephone bid.
In fact, for those who can’t attend the auction, telephone bidding is the best alternative. When bidding by phone, you receive a call from our most experienced team members who guide you through the bidding process as the auction happens. You simply cannot do this online and whilst of course, we provide the facility for online bidding I don’t recommend it, if you can’t make it to the auction, fill up the telephone bidding form well in advance and book your slot for a phone bid.
A few other practical points. The evenings are becoming darker much earlier now and that places some pressure on our team of agents who conduct 100’s of open house viewings in the lead up to the auction. Properties are opened at the time stated, if you turn up late, the chances are that our agent will have locked up and moved on to the next open house appointment where other viewers will be waiting. We have to compress viewings now into daylight hours so please, turn up at the time stated, we will be there and if you’re late, you will probably miss the chance to view your chosen lot on that day.
Your auction “journey” should be an exciting one and hopefully rewarding. My teams throughout all our auction centres are on hand to help, they are highly experienced and most of us have dealt with 1,000’s of lots. We know this might be your first auction experience so, take advantage of their experience and ask questions, we are here to help to get you auction day ready and ready to bid.
Of course, you could always try a bid before auction. Some of our clients will consider this provided you are ready to exchange contracts if your pre-auction bid is accepted so, why not have a go, if you don’t – you’ll never know! But, if your pre-auction offer isn’t accepted by our client don’t be disheartened, it could be that a client can’t sell before the auction and your bid beforehand would be acceptable, or maybe less, on the day of the sale.
So, get prepared, come along to the auction, experience the saleroom buzz first hand and don’t risk bidding via the internet where your connection could drop out or falter at the critical moment! We look forward to seeing you at The Grand Connaught Rooms on Tuesday 14th October with the sale commencing at 9:30am sharp and we wish you the very best of luck with your bidding.
